Per Press Association. Wellington, December 17. Speaking at the Canterbury Society's bamquet last night, in reference to the American labour comtract laws, the Premier said he thought the J^ew Zealand Coastwise Trade Act would counteract such indignities as had been suffered by young, Harper. The Court had sent to the United States Cabinet a strong memorandum asking for an inquiry into Harper/s case. The Governor has informed Mr Green, the St. Louis Exposition Commissioner, that he intends visiting the Exppsition.
