LICENSING- MATTERS.
To the Editor. Sir-, — I see there is a possibility of licenses being granted for the King Country. This is the "best thing : todo as the drink comes all the "same But the publicans in other v places do not want any more licenses, neit^ervd© the brewers or prohibitionists,; .i&ey* aIT are working together j they .doii't study 'the public at all. So> if it. "'is '"y true that hotels rare to, be allowed ip this part of the country, I should "' like to see them kept on Earl Gray's system of which I enclose a cuttfngj out of the Newcastle, Weekly. Chronicle of June Ist, 1901. L Under the-. above system the town, or district receive agreat deal- of benefitVin the shape -of reading rooms, parks, and in Ttnany : other ways. There are* several' .pub- < lie houses in various parts of the' Old, Country carried on ' under" the above plan, and have all turned out success- "' ful, and I think this is a very good opportunity to give the sj'stem , a fair trial.— l am, &c, - „ , DUNEDIN.
