(From Our Own Correspondent.) . The annual meeting of lihe Farmers' Union was heW on, Wednesday, Mr Hodden being in the ahair. Aftear passing the balance-sheet and discussing minor matters tihe meeting elected the following officers for the ensluing year :— Chairman, Mr S. P. Rickard; secretary and treasSurer (pro tern, Mr S. Hale; vice chairman, W. Crow; auditor, W. J. Little; committee, Messrs Luxton, Cartwright, H. Old, T. Baldt, E. Holden and two others io be elected by iihe EDuira'ngi aub brancih on .Monday lHh inst. It wae resplved, That 5s be the annual subscription; that the chairman be delegate to the" Provincial Conference; that Wednesday be tihe night of meeting nearest to the full moon, to start 7.30 p.m.; that a special night be devoted . to the harbour extension scheme; that tihe circular from the Harbour League asking the* branch to apipoint a delegate be laid on the table; that the chairman or secretary wait on the late secretary, Mr G. Potts, for minute book, etc. There was a godd attendance the room being well seated arid all talcing, interest in ithe prioceedings and looking forward for a profitable winter's worlc when it js hofpejd, as the chairman remarked, ihe Lepfpertlon brancih will possess a membership of 100 good working members wjhiclh will be a decided benefit to the district.
