At the meeting of the Royal Humane Society to-day, James Knowles. jun., of Napier, was awarded a gold medal, the iirst isaxiod by the Society. On previous oocasions he has received a certificate, a silver modal, and a silver claap. Val Val. of Oronga, Cook Islands, was awarded a silver das'}) in addition to the silver medal he already holds. Silver medals were awarded to Constable* Leonard J. Bronze medals to Richard Cassidy (Invercargill), Matthew Bennic (Brunnerton), and Walter Willian Hurley (Northcote, Axictklandj. Fram- ! ed certificates to Hannah M. Mosley (Wavcrleyj and Emily R. Barron (\?Alors.lie^. An in memoriam certificate tn the relations of Fvar Jacoluns JToiby, who was drownorl in attempting to rescue at Gi<borne. A certificate on velbim to Arthur Shapbon Richapds (Gisborne); an ordinary certificate to Robert itull (,Ohristch_.r_'h^; a sfpeoial letter of conxmer/dation to Ctiptain W. I). Reid, Auckland: lotto?.-, of commendation to Elizabeth Ferrier. Fairfax; Constable A. Skinner and James Lane, Timaru; Mary Knouri, Christ'churrh.
