The Conciliation Board sat yesterday to consider demands filed by the Wharf Labourers and Stevedores Union against ci number of employers for an increase in the present rate of pay for loading frozen meat either into steam or sailing! vessels, for the regulation of hours, and rate of payment for overtime, for the rate of 10V per day from time of departure to return , for working- all cargo exceipt f?iozen meat for other ports, and for the rate of pay for holidays and preference to uniojiistis. The employers objected to some of the demands and offered to continue the present rate of pay and were willing to renew tihe conditions for another two year?, but failing 1 acceptance would apply to lie placed on •the same footing as tho Wellington award.
