MIRO. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

There has been very little to remark in our district lately. The death of Mr George Langman_in the bush at Tariki cast a gloom over the community. He was well-known down here, and was one of the most popular young men in the district, and most deservedly so. His death was all the more sad in that he had been married but a short time, and his death came as a terrible blow to Bis wife, who has the heartfelt sympathy of us all. The Mountain Road is being regenerated once more — between here arid Inglewood. The broken metal is quite a treat to walk over. The famous Btone-crusher almost claimed its third victim the other day, it doing its best to chew up the present driver, who, I understand, narrowly escaped with his life, and without his clothes. The combined Inglewood, Wortley and Norfolk Road schools hold their annunl picnic to-day (Friday) in the form of an excursion to the New Plymouth breakwater. A special train is arranged for, and the cheap fares should induce a large number to attend.
