MISHAP IN A TRIAL.
A WARSHIP'S ESCAPE. United Press Association. — By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. London, February 19. B.M.S. Hyacinth's piston rod became overheated, causing expansion. The severe strain .threatened dislocation and the engineer shut off the steam and averted a terrible accident.
The cruiser was then 40 miles ahead of the JUinerva, 23 hotirs after starting.
These cruisers were engaged in testing the Scotch and Belleiville typos of boilers in a race from Gibraltar to Spithead.
