SHEARING RATES IN AUSTRALIA United Press Association. — By \ie*tric Telegfraph. — Copyright. Received February 20, 10.58 a.m. Sydney, February 20. A conference of the Pastoralists Association and the Workers Union has fixed the shearing rates at fifteen shillings and found, or 17/G and find themselves, provided the Association went back to the old condition regarding the supply of combs and cutters. The Commissioner appointed to inquire into the Victorian labour legislation recommends that tho State should be divided into six districts. and Courts of Conciliation and Arbitration established in each : that the system of indentured appi'enticea should be made compulsory in tho principal trades and manufacturing industries ; that arrangements be made for instruction in selected State schools in trades : that apprentices be admitted to such schools on the easiest terms : that all Asiatics be licensed ; that any person employing Asiatics must take out a license for his workroom ; that the maximum number of such licenses bo fixed- by law.
