Received January 19, .8.45' a.mv Cape Towp, January 18. : The Chamber of Mines at .Johannesburg informed,' Mr Chamberlain lhat th/ 3 earnings Of 15^000' whites * engaged in. the'«Mnesr averaged £353 a -year, representing an increase in Ihe cost of production of 2/ ID pe,r ton. The Chamber stated that if white labour, was adopted exclusively, it would represent an increase of 10/ per ton and would render, half '* the mines unprofitable. - '
