Mr Langmuir has taken up his duties as chief draughtsman in tEe local Survey office.

The many friends of Mr Frank Sorrel, clerk at the Criterion Hotel, will regret to learn that he is au inmate of the hospital, suffering from a bad leg. -Mr T. iteiiqelJ, eldest son of Mr C. Rennell, who has bsen a resident of Melbourne for many years, has returned to his native heath on a holiday.

Constables Youog and Stackpoole, of the local police force, who have been on the invalid list for some time, are taking a course of the hot springs at Rotorua.

Mr P. S. Whitcombe, secretary of the Education Board, left on Saturday for a week's holiday in the Whangatnomona district.

An old saltier in the person of Mr T. Leedom dad somewhat suddenly on Saturday at his farm Warea Ko.id. The deceased settler, who was 66 years of age, c ime to Taranaki from Dunedin with the fiist compjny of military settlers. Prior to that Mr Leedom had been a digger on the gold fields of Victoria and Ctago. During his residence in Taranaki Mr Leedom was in business as a licensed victualler in several districts, and also was engaged in tho flax industry at different periods. He leaves a wife and four children. The latter are Messrs Edgar and John Leedom, and Mrs F. Carrington and Mi s G. Wade, all resident in the district. Th j deceased settler's re - mains were interred in Te Henui cemetery this afternoon.
