CARRYING OUT ORDERS,
A gentleman, m> engaging his servant, told him he expected his wishes to be understood without the use of superfluous worjds. JFor instance, when he 'said " I want to dress," the valet was <to bring him. linen, clothes, boots, etc. ; and<when,he Said, " I want to'shave," soap, warm water, -razors, etc., were to be ready. ' One morning the servant entered ; the bedroom with .his master's chopoTate. "'.'.. " Not to-day ; lam ill. Ga to the chemist and ask him for my ordinary remedy.'' • ; ■ ♦ The valet went out, and didn't appear again for five hours. .. "What the deuce have you been doing ?*\ shouted the invalid when his valet appeared. .. ■ " Sir, «I went to the chemist ; from there I ran to the doctor ; then I went Ito the chttrch>tb' order a service £,jffom • there to d the" funeral furnishers, . and—^ the undertakers are' about to arrive."
