The Maketawa Dairy Company (Cooperative) holds its annual meeting on Monday night next, when a very satisfactory balance sheet and report will be laid before the shareholder?. It is intended to forward you a rep< rfc of the meeting.
A number of Mr Courtenay's recent arrivals have commenced their ''colonial experience" m this district. They will no doubt do well out here when the newcbumness has worked off. They cannot, at any rate, complain of the mono cony of tbe*climate, which continue? as gloriously undecided as ever. ,
The school annual examination takes place on the 21st inst. The attendance at the school has increased so largely that additional seating accommodation has been applied for. Our schoolmaster is endeavouring to obtain an exchange into the Auckland district, the illness of one of his children having rendered such a step advisable. The large number of children now travelling to this school by train from Durham Road is exciting some comment from ft the public- The number is about 35, so the train is always sure of having a good load of passengers for that distance. The punctuality with which trains have been running lately is worthy of all praise.
