By the Paparoa, which arrived from Home this morning, there came for the Government two Ayrshire bulls, bought from Mr John Hutchmson, of Ayr, two Shorthorn heifers from Lord Rothchilds', one Shorthorn bull from Mr S. Hill, of 'Lichfield, and one Shorthorn heifer from -Mr P. Webb, of Lichfield. Mr S. Burton, one of ' the newly-appointed veterinary surgeons, also came by the vessel. WANGANUI SUPREME. COURT. Wangahui, October 6. In the Supreme Court a decree nisi was granted in the case of Dixon v. Dixon, a wife's petition, on the ground of desertion. Sydney Hunter 'was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for > the theft of LBO from tb.e person of ona Peebles at Hawera. . The Chief Justice ordered £50 found on the prisoner to be handed to the District Court at Hawera. to be distributed for the benefit of those for whom the Court -previously awarded damages for. the death! of young Peebles, as the father might squander the money in drink. About two .thousand Roman Catholics' marched through the streets of the city yesterday, headed by acolytes, in honour of the 3 übilee of their church.* FALL OF SNOW IN CAN TERBURY.
