A large fire at Waihi destroyed Tutbill's two-storied block, including the shops of Tanner (butcher), Conway (saddler), Anderson (tailor), Barron (chemist), Mrs Taylor {restaurant keeper), Livesey (statiorfet) ; also the offices of Clondon & Mueller (solicitors). Revd. Thomas Eyckrn, and Wells (builder). The pro perty destroyed is rained at £3000. The insurances are light. ' TRISCO MAILS. WblunoTON. January 29. • The Postal Department is advised thai the Sonoma, with British mails of 12th inst., left San Francisco on the 24th, one day late. WELLINGTON HALF-HOLIDAY. Wednesday his again been fixed as the statutory half holiday for Wellington and suburbß. FEILDING'S NEW POST OFFICE Feilding, January 29. At three o'clock yesterday the Mayoi laid the foundation stone of the new Post Office, and on behalf of fthe citizen! presented Mrs Hastie, the donor of th< site, with a sterling silver tea service.
