THE DEEPEST MOURNING ORDERED. rPBB rasai association. 1 Wellington, January 28. — The Government has asked the Countess of Ranfurly and Lord Northland of- the Coldstream Guards (son of the Governor) to represent New Zealand at Her Majesty's funeral. This motding His Excellency reoeived.'the following cablegram from the Secretary of State for the Colbnfas;-** "His Majesty the King and the Royal Ramily command me to express' their suaean» gxatitudV in. .which.Hia .Majesty's Government joins, ■ for the sympathy of New Zealand on the lameot«d death of Her Majesty, Queen ' Victoria.— (ChamBBKLAIV* (,A > i •,5 The following cablegram^ dated London, 24£h January, only reached; His Excellency the Governor this morning: — " The order for general 'mourning states thai all persdni are expected t*> pnt them* selves into deepest mourning from 28th J#nuary.-T^AMBs|^AiN.y. Thcbjeafcdown in the oable service Is responsible for the above message arriving soJUte . In order to enable the ceremony of pro clamation to take place to-day, His Excellency decided that the order for mourning shall take effect tomorrow. After to-day's proclamation ceremony, prior to which the Government had taken the oath of allegiance to the King, another meeting <tf the Executive Council was held at the Government House, and several affairs of State received attention, The Governor has received the following cablegram from ' the Secretary df State for the Colonies:— " His Majesty the King and the Royal Family are very '■■ grateful for the numerous manifestations ■ of sympathy .which have been received from the colony of New Zealand."
