The Wellington Times of Friday says: —It is stated that Renown will not be started in the Zealandia Plate to-morrow and that the event will be left as a walkover for the Porirua stable. All lovers of racehorses will unite in the hope that such will not be the case. A meeting between Advance and Renown at weight-for-age would be looked forward to on every side with the keenest interest. Mr Ormond has in the past proved himself to be before everything else a sportsman, and the writer thinks too well of him to imagine that he will withdraw without good reason from a contest 'in which the reputation of one of his best horses is involved. The going on Saturday is sure to be favourable to Renown, the recent rain having taken the hardness out of the surface of the course. Considerations of weight- saving cannot, of course, affect tbe matter, as Renown is a horse destined sooner rather than later to be awarded maximum penalties by the haudicapper. Mr Orraond's decision in regard to the matter will be awaited with interest.

Tbe Hon. J. D. Ormond scratched Eenown for tbe Ze ilandia Plate run today. Advance, Boreas, and Tortulla (in the same stable) had the race to themselves.

The Takapuna races have been postponed till after the Queen's funeral.
