, Sir W. J. Lyne, in reply to questions in reference to Mr Seddon's refusal to allow Anatrians to proceed to New Zealand, said his hands were tied and he could not prevent them landing here, the only test nnder the Aliens Act being eligibility to write their names. Brisbane, September 5. Forty-eight Austrians originally intended for New Zealand came on here. Received September 6, 9 25 a.m Sydney, September 6. The Governor, Ministers, and members tof both Hous2S of New Zealand Parliament will be amongst those invited to attend the Commonwealth inauguration Ceremonies.
Mr Hugh Dixon, of Summerliill, has presented the Baptist Union with £10,600 for th« Aged and Infirm Ministers' Fund. Tie balance of the estate will be distributed among the various funds.
