« COLONIAL REPRESENTATION QUESTION. United Press Association. — By Electric Telegraph — Copyright. Received April 5, 1.40 a.m. London, April 4. — In the House of Commons, Mr T. C. H. Hcdderwick, M.P. for the "Wick Burghs, moved that the colonies should have some direct representation in the British Parliament. The Right Hon. J. Chamberlain replied in a masterly survey of the complete problem. He said it was impos-
sible to .act on an abstract resolution in the absence of an authoritative colonial demand, and that, moreover, the resolution was at variance with the Federal system proposed. The motion was withdrawn. KcoeiveJ. April 5. 9.30 a.m. London, April 4. — ~Str Chamberlain, spaaking upon Mr Hedderwick"s motion, said an Imperial Zollvercin, free trade within the Empire and duties against outsiders, was the only form of fiscal arrangement likely to be viewed with the slightest favour in Great Britain.
