GENERAL JOUBERT S SUCCESSOR.

Mr Schalk Bnrger was educated at Durban, and at Grey's College, Blcemfontein, in the OraDge Free State, and epcaks and wriies Enpi^h fretly. Ho ha 9 occupied tha position of Chairman of the Volksraad, and was very ambitious to carry out hia ideas iv regard to tho_ treatment of the Uitlauders.
