TURF ITEMS.
The steeplechaser Mangere has arrived at Auckland from Sydney, to fulfil his engagements at the Auckland Steeplechase Meeting. Mr Hoogland, the horse dentist, is at present in New Plymouth, attending to the troublesome molar 3of several local turf horses.
Lord Durham his invited tho English Jockey Club to adopt the starting-gate at its races.
Acceptances for the firtt day's events of the Wanganui Steeplechase Meeting close to-night at 9 p.m. The Wellington R.C. are cousideiing the advisabi'ity of following the lead of the Canterbury J.C. in tho appointment of a paid judge.
