Received May 13, 9.15 a.m, Lonpov, May 12.— The Australians have lost six wickers for 101- Further scores:- • Gregory, c Russell b Young 21 i Kelly, b Meade 16 Trumble, b Young 0 Layer, not out... ... 1 The weather was cloudy, and the wioket played queerly, ths balls shooting Ov\ing to a heavy dew. The attendance was again large. Gregory was smartly taken behind the wickets, and Trumble was bowled off his pads. The fourth wicket fell for 90 and the fifth 'for 94. Received May 13, 10.50 a.m. London, May 12. — In thoir.firac innings the Australians made 144. Addirional scores : — Layer, c and b Meud ... ... ... 9 Jones, b Young 6 McLeod, not out 20 The other individual scores are missing. Bowling analysis : Bull, -2 for 30; Mead, 3 for 58; Young, 4 for 42. In their second innings Essex has lost 3 wickets for 49. Scores:— I Owen, c Iredale, b Jones 6 Carpenter, c Kelly, b Trumble ... 2 Perrin, c Iredale, b Jones 0 McGahey, not out 15 Turner, not out 25 £j!The Australians seventh wicket fell for 111. The catch which dismissed Layer was a vary easy one. At the luncheon hour Essex had lost one wicket for 8, and the second wicket fell without any iucrease in the score. Owen and Perrin were both taken in the slips by Bmarfc catches. McGahey and Turner played a lucky innings, each giving two chances. Jones' pace was tremendous, Arrangements have been made for aj match, Australian Eleven v. Grace's team, to take place at Crystal Palace on July 20th.
