OBITUARY.
Mrs Dover, whose death occurred at Nelson on December 15tb,at the advanced jage of 84 years, was one of the eaily settlers of Taranaki, hiding arrived at New Plymouth in the ahip Blenheim on November 7th, 1842. She wis, like most of the earliest settlors, a native of Davon shire. On her arrival she married the late "William Pote, With whom she lived at Te Henui for some time, afterwards taking up land at Omata. On the w:r with the Maoris breaking ou 1 ", the eldest son, James, wa3 murdered by the nttives at Omata in 18G0. Mrs Pote Ih v removed with her family to Nelsou, whoro she lo3t two mora boys in sick bed By her unassuming manner and trmiful cHs position she made many friend*, and she endured with great fortilndj tho vicissi- ' tudes of pioneer life, and the more poignant griefs of war. Mrs Pote leaves a family of six living, two sons, William (Wanganui) and Henry (Tariki lioid), and three daughters, Mrs Williim Harrison, Mrs .John Pepperell (New Plymouth), and Mrs Frederick Brabant (Waitara), by her first Lmband, and one son, Mr P. H, Dover (Waitara), by her second husband.
