The Governor's Visit to Hawera.
A BRILLIANT RECEPTION. [per press association.] Hawera, September 8. — The Governor has paid an official vi-.it to Hawera. He arrived last night and was met at the station by the Reception Committee and escorted by .the Hawera Mounted Rifles to the Commercial Eotel. He after-, wards received addresses of welcome and then attended the Citizens' Ball, which was a brilliant success. The -town was brilliantly illuminated and decorated, aud there was a record attendance of the public To-< Jay His Excellency visited the State school, laid foundation stones of a new Catholic school and Oddfellows Hall ; at 12.30 p.m. was entertained at a luncheon attended by- representatives from all parts of the province, and left at 3 p.m. for Peilding.
