I^fhom our own corresponded t.J The Inglewood School Committee met on August Ist. Present: — Mesara Bateman (chairman), Allen, Biiigeman,Hodgi}B, Edwards, Petherick, Surrey, Storing, and Tallbott. Correspondence was read from the Board of Education respecting- tho boundary of Durham Road School, &c. It was proposed by Mr Allen'sficonded by Mr Surrey, That this Committee do not consider that the boundaries formed by the Board of Education would suit as they cut too close to the Norfolk and Dudley Road schools, and that the Secretary write tho Board to that effect. Carried. The same Board also wrote asking tbe Committee to forward their recommendation re the appointment at the Durham Road school; notifying that tHa alteration in school hours asked for by Mr Win field is contrary to the regulations and cannot be granted; thajt the books in use in tbe schools under 'the Board are uniform throughout the district; also that the architect has been instructed to iave the old furniture at the Dudley Road school brought into New Plymouth, and when this is done the Committee will.be allowed to . occupy the old school as a shelter shed. The letter re Inglewood shelter shed has been referred to the architect for his report. Mr T. Burgess wrote asking the use of the Norfolk Road School l on Friday evening for a dancing class. The OonTmittee resolved that it cannob see ita way at present to comply with the request. Miss Burrows applied for an advance of 10s per annum for caretaker of ,tbe Durham Road School; granted.' Mrs Jordon wrote for the position of caretaker to one of the schools, and olf <*red todo the work for 22s per quarter. Mr Grant, head teacher of tb.9 Inglewood School, wrote asking for several repairs to be done at the Inglewood School ; granted. . . The monthly reports of the Inglewood and Dudley Road Schools were received. Mr Evans informed the Committee that the pupil teacher recently appointed commenced his duties on the lßt inst. A frw small accounts were passed for payment.

From Wednesday, the 27th ultimo, to Sunday, the 31st, we have had thunder, lightning, rain, -hail, stroDg wind, and snow.. The hailstones were quite largo enough to make a person shut bis eyes and keep his head down. Tho fall of snow was the heaviest wobavehad for the past;l9 years. The weather waa very cold. Monday was fine, but aboufc 9 p.m. it began to rain, which kept falling during the night, and on Tuesday morning about 7 a.m. there weie a few heavy showers of bail. , , , ' . The Rev. F. W. I&itt preached a most excellent sermon in. the Wesleyan Church on Bunday evening last, and although the evening was wet and cold the Chnrch.waa crowded. Many persons say- that it was one ot tbe best Rermons ever preached in the lnglewo.od Wesleyan Church.< A social in aid of the Wesleyaa Oiwaifc was held in theForesfcera 1 Hall on Monday night.
