INDUSTRIAL, ART, AND CURIO EXHIBITION.

RESULTS OF THE ELOCUTION AND MUSICAL COMPETITIONS. Right up to the very hour of closinp on Saturday night tho Exhibition was thronged with visitors, and the great cause for complaint was that there were too many people there. During the last evening a splendid orchestra under Mr Garry played in fine style a number of operatic aud other selections, the efforts of the performers meeting with much approval. The total takings (including about £43 collected it the laying of tho foundation stone) amount to £200. The Commitee are desirous of thanking the general public for their exemplary behaviour during the time the Exhibition was open. All accounts against the Exhibition Committee are requested to be sent in at once to the Secretary. Shortly after 10 o'clock on Saturday night, the Rev C. H. Garland, from the scage in the main hall, formally declared the Exhibition closed, In doing so ho said he had been asked to thank those members of the Committee outside their own connection, also those who had taken part in the concerts, the exhibitors and tho public generally. These were accorded a hearty vote of thanks and the Exhibition was then closed. To-day (Monday) exhibitors were very busy removing their displays. The musical and elocution contests were continued on Saturday night, and ab the conclusion, the judges announced the results to be as follows : — ELOCUTION. I (Judges : Messrs Spencer and Pridham.) Pathetic Recitation s Mr R. H. Boyd (Hawera). Jn the pathetic chss Miss Shorney was awarded a special certificate for commendable ability for one so young. Dramatic : Mr R, H. Boyd. Comic J Mr J. Blybh. Recitation (under 12) : Master J. Booth, 6 years of age, was awarded a certificate and special commendation. SINGING. (Judges : Mrs Robinson, Dr. Walker, Mr A. L Cooke.) Children's Class : Miss May Roberts, 1 and very highly commended. Adults : Soprano : Miss Ramson, 1 and honorable mention. Tenor :Mr J. H. Ilowe, 1 and highly commended. Bass : Mr E. Clarke, 1 and certificate of merit. Alto : No award. Duet : Misses Booth and Giddy, certificate of merit. tu the singing competition tho judges made the remark that the singing generally was not of a high standard. Instrumental. Violin.— Under 12 years : Master Spencer (Jalt. Over 12 and under 15 : Miss Annie Ross. Pianoi — Under 12 years: Miss Elsie Bolliuger, high commendation ; Miss Atiiy Wardj honorable mention. Ffom 1 2 to 15 years : Mhs Ethel Putter, hdho'rable mention. Over 15 years : Misses E. M. Cheng and A. Irvine, high commendation.
