Calcctta, September 15. — Colonel Biegs' column has relieved Fort Lockhart, after brilliantly storming the enomy's position in the Godia Hills. He is now shelling fin immense gathering of tribesmen between Lockhart and Fort Galistan. The lower Mohmands are anxious to submit to the British authorities. They declare they have expelled the Hadda Mollah. Tho bulk of the tribe, however, intend to fight. Reports from Simla state that the force despatched by tho Indian Govarnraent to the north-western frontier to cope with tho tribesmen, now numbers 59,000 mbn and 90 guns. \The railway lines from Merut to Peshawur are blocked with trains laden with camels and mules, wbich are urgently needed at the front, and which have for soveral* days been waiting for engines Many of the animals are dying.
