INGLEWOOD.
[from oue otto correspondent.] The Inglewood Town Board met on tho 13th iuft. Piesent : — Messrs J. O. Peach (Chairman), F. H. Brown, H. J. Julian, H. W. Tarplee, and C. O. Smith. The Collector's statement for 1 the month ending 13th September was roafl as follows : — Balance in hand of Collector on tho 9th August, £5 : rates for 1897 and 1898 — general, £4 6s 3d ; special, £1 8s 9d; reserves, £4 13s; Town Hall, 7a ; dog tax, sa ; Government subsidy, £20 2s lOd ; mullock, 9s ; Auguit amount deposited in bank, £20 2s 9d ; by cheque and cash, £16 j refund to band concert, 9a.
The Chairman reportod the transfer of Town Board section from Mr Tumefto Mr T. Giles, remarking that he hoped the lawyers would give a little longer notice in cases of transfers in future. The Chairman's action was approved . A letter was read from Mr R. G» Hughes, solicitor, re transfer of Reserves to Domaiu Board. It was moved by Mr Peach, seconded by Mr Tarplee, that all business connected with the Recreation Grojids be transacted in future wich Domain Board business, ard that all accounts be kept in a separate book. Messrs Peach and Tarplee withdrew their forrrer notice of motion.
The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Franklyn again reminding him that the £,orse near the footpath on Junction Road has not been removed. Mr Tarplee, member of the Works Committee, reported that the water table iv Kelly street required claaring out, also the bad state of the footpath from Mr Juliaa's corner to tbe Gymnasium Hall, and that; the footpath ia Catfield street north required some repairing. Mr Tarplee, Chairman of the Library Committee, reported that the declaration required to have sections 89 and 90, brou^hi under the Public Library Act, 1875, had been filed. He would, therefore, ask the Board to take steps to have those sections reserved for library purposes. On the motion of Mr C. O. Smith, seconded by Mr H. W. Tarplee, it w*s resolved that the Commissioner of < 'rown Lands be requested to have the above mentioned sections vested in the T<vwn Board, conjointly with the Library Committee as trustees.
On the motion of Mr Tarplee, seconded by Mr Julian, it was decided that no more mullock be sold from the Board's pit.
Accounts amounting to £36 12s 6d were passed for payment.
