Nominations, 30s ; accep ttnces, 70s. 4. Clifton Stakes, of £25 ; second horse so receive £5 from tho shakes ; 5 furlongs ; 3yrs, Bsfc, 4yrs and aged, 9st ; open to non-winners. Entrance, 20s ; to close on general entry night. 5. Welter Handicap, of £35 ; second horse to receive £5 from the stakes ; about seven furlongs ; minimum weights, Bst 71hs ; weights declared immediately after Cup is run. Flying Handicap of £50 ; second horse to receive £5 from the stakes ; about J mile ; winner of any Handicap race after declaration of weights to carry 7lb penalty. Final Flutter ot £25 ; second horse to receive £5 from the stakes ; about J mile ; catch weights. Entrance, £1. To close on general entry night. DATE OF NOMINATIONS AND ACCEPTANCES. Nominations for all handicaps must be in the hands of the Secretary at the Waitara Hotel on Wednesday, October 13th not later than 9 p.m., accompanied with the name, ige, pedigree, colors and performances of horse. Telegraph office closes at 5 p.m. Handicaps appear on Thursday, October 21st. Acceptances and general entries on Wedneiday, October 27th, except for Welter, which ncieptances are due after the Clifton Stakes. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Definition of a Hack. — A hack means a horso that has never won an advertised race of any description (Hack, Hunter and Ponies" Races exceptt'd), and is not nominated for any race other than hack race at time of start. Five per cent. wjII be deducted from the stakes towards defraying expenses. Jockeys must be clean and well dressed, or will be liable 'to a fine of* £5 for infringement of this rule. All races to be run under the Rules of Racing, as adopted by the Metropolitan Club of New Zealand. All horses to be ridden in colors ; same to accompany Acceptances and General Entries. No entry or nomination will be re ceived except upon these conditions : that all disputes, claims, and objections arising shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or whom they may appoinb, t»nd their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final, except in cases of appeal provided for by the Rules of Racing. Horses walking over will only receive 59 per cent, of the stakes. The necessary amount in cash must accompany all Nominations an>l Acceptances.
