TO THE EDITOR. BIR, — A number of persons have asked why lash session The Egmont Forest Reserve Bill was placed in Mr McGuire's hands and not in that of Mr E. M Smith tho then member for New Plymeuth. Tho explanation is that Mr Smith was away daring- the early part of the session. I should be sorry that an impression should get about that any slight was intended to Mr Smith, who did great service to the Society which they warmly appreciate.
