CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. Wellington, Angnst 10. The Society for the Prevention of cruelty to animals had a discussion on the ill treatment of cattle, induced by a report from the Christehnrch Society. Some animals landed there went mad from thirst. The Inspector said thero were no receiving yards nt Wellington, and cattle would not drink from buckets lon steamers. Troughs ought to be provided at railway stations and animals frd and watered before going on board. Tho Society considered trucking of cattle a cruelty, aud decided to ask Sif Robeit Stout to bring the maUey before Parliament, A SMART PASSAGE. Wellington, August 11 .
