Shipmasters threaten to lock-out Unionist engineers on the Clyde, Belfast, and Northeast of England shipbuilding yards, unless seventy, who struck at Govan because a free labourer was retained, 1 resume work. It is feared that 80,000 will be affected. DEPENDING THE CREDir OP NEW ZEALAND. Hon W. P. Reeves, Agent-General for New Zealand, denies statements by the Economist's Melbourne correspondent that Ministers greatly exaggerate New Zealand's actual surplus. DISPUTE BETWEEN ITALY AND BRAZIL. Rome, August 29. Brazil having refused to refer Italian claims arising from the recent rebellion to arbitration, has caused much indignation here, and the Government will probably send an ultimatum to the Brazilian Government. Rome, August SO. The Italian Government has decided to send Marteno, the Minister to Brazil, who has been on a visit to Italy, back to Rio de Janeiro in the crusier Piedmont, to obtain a settlement of claims and safeguard Italian settlers in Brazil. A ROYAL WEDDING. The marriage of the Prince of Naples, heir to the Italian throne, and Princess Helene of Montenegro, takes place in November. THE RAVAGES OF THE RINDERPEST. Capetown, August 29. It is estimated that Khama lost 80,000 head of cattle by the rinderpest, and his people half a million. Supplies at Port Salisbury are becoming exhausted. CANADIAN MEAT TRADE. Ottawa, August 29. An English syndicate offers to develop the meat trade between Canada and England «n condition that a subsidy of one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars is granted for ten years. The Premier is considering the question. PREMIER OF JAPAN RESIGNB. Yokohama, August 29. The Premier of Japan has resigned,
