LONDON— AUGUST 20. Money Securities.— Consols (Goscben's) 2J per cent., now at 113 ± ; New Zealand lecurities quoted as follows :—4: — 4 per cent., 1879-1904 loan, 117 ; 3J per cent. Inscribed, 109; 3 percent., 102}. Three mouths' bilk are discounted at 11-16 th per cent. Total reserve iv the Bank of England in notes and bullion is now £36,462,000, bcicg an increase of £340,000 on previous week. Proportion of reserve to liabilities is 58.76 per cent., boing in increase of .22 per cent on last week. iJRKADSTUFFS. — The English \vbci\t market is 'quiet, but steady ; 'Continental dull ; American is advancing continuously on account of adverse crop leporta. Hkmp. — The New Zealand hemp market i?. unchanged. H'bozen Meat, &c. — Mutton, first quality ,3}d, second 3d, lamb 4Jd.
Tallow.— Mutton, fine quality, 20s 9d; medium, 18s ; beef, fine quality, 17s 6d ; medium, 16b 3d. Wool.— The first arrivals for the ensuing wool sales nnmber 236,000 bales. The quantity forwarded direct to manufacturing districts is 40.000 bales.
