HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Friday, July 3.— The Asiatic Restriction Bill (No. 2) was introduced by Mr Seddon, and read a first time. Mr Seddon moved that the names of Messrs O- Hutchison, Tanner, Maslin, Guinness, and Steward be added to the. Banking Committee. Sir R. Stout moved an amendment— " That tin Premier's motion be not proceeded with till the Government had answered the questions on the Order Paper." Mr Seddon protested, and after a long discussion the amendment was lost by 37 to 26. The House rose at 530 p.m., and on resuming at 7.30 p.m., , Two hours were spent in discussing the Premier's proposal for morning sittings, the general opinion being that unless it was arranged the House should rise at 10.30 p.m., matters had better remain as they were. The first clause— that the House do not meet until end of July at 10.30 a.m.— was carried by 29 to 28. Mr Seddon intimated that be would bring down further proposals, and asked that the debate on the other clauses of his motion be adjourned.— Agreed to. The Rating on Unimproved Values Bill was read a second time by 29 to 5. The House r>se at 1 a.m.
