UPPER MANGOREI

[from our own correspondent The annual meeting of householders was, held at the Upper Schoolhouße on the advertised date, but the only attendants were four of tho old Committee, viz., Messrs Brown, Coad, Hamblyn, and Boy, and the Education Board is to be asked to appoint tho above-named as a Committee. The annual reports for both schools were read at the meeting, and it was noticed that the Inspector recommended quite a number of repairs and alterations. The general opiuion was that tho Inspector's requirements were correct, but that want of funds would compel the Committee to approach the Education Board for a grant to enable tho work to be carried out. The local creamery is now working on alternate days only, which will result in a considerable gain of time to the suppliers. Owing to the close weather at the time the altera'ion was made, a great deal of the milk went thick, but cooler days have since prevailed. Carpenters are busy in Upper Mangorei, and two houses are being added to extensively, while two new ones are to be erected shortly. In connection with this activity in the buildingiline, rumour has it that the parson will have a job or two in tbe district before long. The two sitting members of the Boad Board ,MessK Wade and Coad, were reelected unopposed, Evidently the ratepayers think that under tho present Board our road is well caied for, and certainly it would be difficult to pick a hole in the management, although we have one or two in the district who would find fault with anything.
