TIKORANGI.

[from our own correspondent]. April 27. - A social for the benefit of the library took place in the schoolroom on Friday evening April 24. There were about 150 persons present. Songs, readings, recitations, and vaiious games w. v ro the ordei of the evening. There were several present from Waitara to whom very great thanks are due for tbeir assistance in contributing to the evening's entertainment. The library ib going on very well and is woll supported by the young people. There are now several hundred volumes, and_ great credit is due to those who initiated it and now take every opportunitp of attending carefully to the wants of the subscribers. Judging from the number of subscribers and the regular way of changing the books weekly, it cannot be otnoi 1 than pleasing to the managers to feal that the settlers appreciate their attentions. The meeting of householders took place as advertised. The statement of accounts for the past year was read and approved. A vote of thanks was passed to the outgoing commissioners. There was only a small attendance, and no one had been nominated as members of a new committeo, nor did the meeting feel disposed to elect a new committeo, as everything appeared to be going on very smoothly. It was decided to ask the Education Board to appoint the three settlers who had been commissioners during tho past year to the same position for the present >ear.
