Adelaide, April 24. The revenue for the quarter ended March has increased by £31,000 compared with the corresponding period of last year. The expenditure has decreased by £48,000.

Melbourne, April 28. The half yearly report of ihe Colonial Bank shows a net profit of £2,564. A sum of £1000 has been added to the . balance can-ied forward for , Jast halfyear, making a total of £3587 which goes forward.

Melbourne, April 24. The proposal to send a contingent to South Africa was received coldly by the authorities. The Treasurer states there is no money available, and further that England does not require help. Sidney, April 24. Sir Henry Parkes continues to improve. A meeting of the Bootmakers' Union decided that failing the masters granting them a conference there Bhall be a general strike on Tuesday morning. The masters continue firm in the matter, and show no sign of receding, so there is every proapect of a strike.

Newcastle, April 24*. The majority of the miners' lodges nave already voted. So far the numbers are:— lo6 against and 6 for the aQceptance of the proposals of the late conference. Other lodges yet to vote cannot materially affect the resale, and there is certain to be a large majority in fayorof a strike.

Perth, April 24. A loud explosion followed by severe earth tremors has taken place at Kairidale. Buildings shook perceptible. To the end of March, the revenue showed a surplus of £474,000.
