MANGAERE.

|FBOM ODK OWN COEEESPONDENT |.

I HEAR that the bachelors of Afangaero intend to have a social aud dance on the Ist of May, the presumed object being to accord the new school teacher a welcome. The object itself is to, be commended bui I am of opinion that it is depriving the portion of this community which is mostly interested in the matter of their privilege, viz.. the married people, especially those who have children to send to school, and it would be better to allow the parents to attend to the matter, as I cannot see what interest the bachelors can have with respect to the appointment. I trust that the matter will be seriously considered by the parents before it is too late.

The school, I believe, is to be opened immediately, and it is to be hoped that th.c parents will strain a point to ensure a good attendance on the part of their children, which is r.ocebsary to ensure success tor tho school.

Tho sottleis am to be commended for the energy they have displayed in. getting the school, and for yeax* to- come it will be a source of pride to them to think that th,e pruaeut structure is duo to their exertions-, aa probably if thu school question hid not been persistently pushed forward it would have been t»o or tbvee years before one would have been erected. The election of the School Committee takes placo on the 27th April, and great interest is evinced with respect to the same.
