ANOTHER SAWMILL DESTROYED Danevikke, February 29. The Hawke's Bay Timber Company's sawmill at Tahoraite, with the sawmill

manager's house and the employees' dwellings, were destroyed by fire this morning. The fire was caused by the spreading of the bush fires. The insurances are : — Plant, £500 ; stock, £100, in the Norwich Union. There are other insurances, but the parti3ulars are not known. The Company are heavy losers. CONCILIATION BOARD. Wellington, February 28. The voting for members for the Conciliation Board resulted as follows : — P. Fisher, 10 ; H. Jones, 9 ; H. Walner, 8; A. Ward, 7. The first two were elected. All four were nominated by workers. The employers did not send in any names.

SALMON OVA FOR NEW ZEALAND. Wellington, February 29. The Agent-General has cabled the Government that 200,000 salmon ova have been shipped by the Kaikoura for New Zealand for distribution among the various Acclimatisation Societies of tbe colony, PROVIDING FOR SPORTSMEN. It has been decided to procure 50 head of deer, to be let loose on the ranges on the West Coast of the Middle Island. THE MAKOHINE VIADUCT, The Cabinet has authorised tenders being invited for the Makohine Viaduct on tho Nortli Island Main Trunk Railway. The estimated cost iH between £30,000 or £40,000, nnd provision is made for the chief portion of the ironwork being manufactured in the colony. REWARDS FOR BRAVERY. The Government is calling for competitive designs lor gold, silver, and bronze medals, with which it is intended to recognise bravery in saving life.
