There was no response. The professor repeated his request. Same result.
I am sorry, he said at last, after waiting several minutes, that I shall be unable to perform my advertised feat of swallowing a sword ; but you will see, ladies and gentlemen, that it ia not my fault. I will now proceed with the wonderful performance of the magic egg-bag.
