INGLEWOOD.
[FROM OCR- OWN CORRESPONDENT.] June 10. — Mr Thomas Giles, carrier, of Tnglewood, met with a serious loss last week. A valuable hjrse, for whwb, he would not have taken £20, was so badly injured tint it had to be shot. Mr Giles was carting a load of firewood, when the wheels of the dray got stuck in a soft part of the road. The horse, a moat willing one to do its work, gave a sudden pull, fracturing its spine. Mr Giles remainod up during the whole of the night attending to the poor beast, doing wh»t he could for it, but it was of no avail. Mr Giles had to relieve the poor animal from Buffering by shooting it. Messrs Tickers & Stevens' auction mart was broken into on Friday night or early on Saturday morning, when ten blankets were &t*le~n. An entrance was made by i breaking a pane of glas3 in one of the back windows and roraoving the catch. I believe if any person, or persons, went to Meisrs Vickore & Stevens and complained of being hard up and suffering from the cold, that the firm would have given him or them a pair of blankets, therefore it was a dastardly action to break into their premises to steal.
