FOOTBALL.
. WAIMATE v.- CLIFTON. THE Senior Cup match, Waimate v. Clifton, was played at Waitara on Saturday, and resulted in a. draw; no score being registered by either side. The game was not a good exposition of football, as the play was mainly confined to the for wards, the backs getting very little show. Mi Hirsohberg was referee. PETROLEUM AT MOTUROA. Messrs Fair and Samuel we?e to leave Auckland for Sydney to-day (Monday). It is expected they will be absent about a month. "When the company is floated a bore will be put down near the Toll Gate at Omata, and another will be sunk, probably, on a farm on the Frankley EoaS. Oil is still pumped from the bore at Moturoa, when required, there being still a big demand for sample bottles.
