[W» are not renponslbte for th« opinions exprcisod by correspondents The writer's nitme, aa a guarantee o (pod faith, must b» eoclosaa la the Tetter.] A WOMAN'S LOGIC. TO THE fcDITOH. Sin, — At the risk of exorcising what may bo considered bad taste, I take the liberty of noting a few fallacies which " Only a Woman" indulges in in her letter. I presume, in the first place, she £oes to bed in the dark, excepting on moonlight nights, as sho considers gas, and, for the same reason, any other artificial light, not a necessity. But are there not a few other items which, from a masculine point of view, might bo couHidored us not ranking among the nGceßsarioa of life, which, I presume, " Only a Woman" may possibly tbink as highly needful. If, moreover, insurers in liro and life offices wer« to bo ranked as doubtful, " Only a Woman" might some morning find hersolf in a position where it would be perhaps impossible to provide the common necessaries of life, and a viaifc of the charitablo aid officer not ! among its improbahilites. Gas and insurance companios all occupy a privileged position, very different from ordinary tradesmen, so the comparison does not quite fit. When insurance companies charge from 50 to 100 per cent, more hero for equal risks than obtains in othor towns, it is quite timw some steps wero taken to equalise matters. As regards the necessaries of life, thoy are as low in Now Plymouth as they can be reasonably expected, considering how much higher rntes, &c, are hero thun in many towns. As to the deputation, I bhall only bo too glad to rocoivo them and diacut-s prices, providod they are not all of doubtlul age or blue stockings. Afternoon tea, under such circumstances, Would bo a great pleasure. I will also undertake to pro--' vide the tea from samples provided by doalera, when the price and flavour may bo discussed. Eyerybody, of course, know* the prigo p{ sugar.— Jam, &c, A Man,
