URENUI.
[prom our own correspondent,] January I.— The Bachelors Ball was held in the Urenui Town Hall last evening, New Year's eve, and was a pronounced success, there being between thirty and forty couples present. Mr Rowntreo supplied the music and played in his usual good style. The ladies woro all vory well dressed, and in fact it was a very enjoyablo night. Mr Carrington the M.C., deserves great credit for the way in which he conducted the Ball throughout, also the committee for their taste in' decorating tho Hall. Mr Burke provided the supper which was vory weli served. Miss I. Moon and Mr Turner sang several good songs, which wero highly appreciated, and dancing was kept up till daybreak. To-day tho children wero given ,i upread in tho Town Hall, after which thoy adjourned to Mr Pigott'd paddock where thoy had racing and all kinds of games till five o'clock, whon they wore troated to a good tea in tho Hall, aftor which they had dancing and singing tiljl near midnight. Tho ladioH and gontlomon all did their best to amusu the young folk, and I think thoy succeeded. I liavo never known so many assemble at the Urenui Hall before, there being 140 prosont.
