Melbourne, March 31. Gold has been discovere.l at Tallangatta, 205 miles north-east of Melbourne. • The reef yields from two to seven ounces to the ton. Sydney, March 80. A full court to-day delivered an important decision, holding that a prisoner who had been convicted twice of the same offence should be discharged. The prisoner's first conviction had been quashed on the gronnd that evidence had been allowed which was inadmissable, nevertheless, on the second trial he was again convicted. The Chief Justice differed from the views taken by tho rest of the court, and argued that the second conviction should hold good.
