EUREKA IRONSAND REDUCTION SYNDICATE.

In recent issues of the Auckland newspapers we notice the iron question is being reopened by the " Eureka Ironsand Reduction Syndicate of New Zealand," and that the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Auckland (Mr Adam Porter), has instituted an investigation as to the cost of production and quality of iron produced. Having gone thoroughly into the matter, he arrives at the satisfactory conclusion that a commercial commodity can be obtained, and he has ascertained that the iron produced is of a highly superior quality. This is saying a great deal for the process of Messrs Minett & Jones, which appears to have been scrutinised for the first time from a commercial point of view, and from a no less authority than Mr Adam Porter, who would, we believe, be the first to discourage any paltry attempt or impracticable theory. The syndicate is now represented here by Mr H. Tytherleigh, one of the promoters, and Mr Miuett, one of the inventors of the patented process. It is the intention of the syndicate to take Home to tho Old Country 200 tons of the ironsand and necessary fluxing minerals, and personally superintend it while it goes through the modern blast furnace on the lines of tho invention, and it is for this purpose that the small capital of £2000 is now being raised, by the sale of promoters' shares, to publicly demonstrate tho minimum cost of production of iron from the rich deposits of Now Zealand, and induce British capitalists to erect works here, where al! materials can bo obtained within easy distance of each other.
