A meeting of shareholders and others interested in the Fitzroy Omnibus Company will be held at Gilmour's store, Fitzroy, this evening at half-past seven. Mr T. Nicholas requests us to draw attention to a notice in our advertising columns to the effect that his mart is open daily for private sale. A deputation consisting of Messrs Shuttleworth, A. Davidson, Kogers, Tribe and others waited upon the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday evening for the purpose of bringing to the notice of the Railway Commissioners the necessity of continuing the siding at Eliot-street. Mr A. Davidson said the siding was very largely used, and if it was done away with great inconvenience would be felt by those living at the East end of the town, as the timber and merchandise would have to be carted form the railway station. The depufcychairman said the matter should be brought before the Commissioners. The Committee for the public ball to be held on Easter Monday, for the benefit of the Recreation Grouuds, met on "Wednesday evening. Amongst other business it was decided to hold the ball in the Alexandra Hall, the accommodation there being considered superior to the Drill •Hall. Mr H. Revell's tender for refreshments was accepted. Mr Garry has been entrusted with the music, which is to be a special feature of the occasion. Tickets can now be obtained from the secretary and all members of the committee, and it is hoped that a large number will be sold, especially as on this occasion there is to be no canvassing for contributions to the supper table. The manager of Tysers Shipping Company offers to send a steamer to New Plymouth, during the season for the butter, if sufficient quantity is guaranteed to warrant bringing the vessels here. Mr Z. W. Wells, of Mangorei, has sent us in a monster apple, one of " Mobb's Royal " variety, which weighs lGi ounces. Mr Frank Hyams, watchmaker and jeweller, of Dunedin, has a business notice in another column. Mr B. R. Garrett is still continuing his cheap sale of boots and shoes at the Cash Palace. Reference to his price list on the first page of this issue will show the bargains he is ottering.
