Horse Stock. — Messrs Buckland & Sons report that at the Haymarket on Friday (Jan. 2G) horse stock was in short supply and sold more freely than last week. Light harness ranged from £8 to £14; heavy harness £56 10s; riding horses £8 to £10 each. Wool, Hides, Skins, &c. — Messrs G. W. Binncy & Son report market firm. We cleared a full catalogue of prime stout ox at o-}d to Gd; heavy stout 4^l to 4Jd; stout 3^l to4d; medium and steer 2 \ to 3 \<X; calf B^d; prime cow 2jjd to 3£d; medium IJd to 2jd; tallow 19ri to 21s; medium 14s to 17.s Gd per cwt. — Messrs Buckland and Son report that on Tuesday (Jan 30) hides were generally of baiter quality than for some time. Ox hides mo-tly ranged from 2Jd to 4Jd; cow hides \%A to 2£d; calfskins 4d the It); bones 3s per cwt; pelts and skins from Is to 2s 8d; lambskins Is 9d to Is lid; and exceptionally large full-woolled skins brought 9s 3d. Cattle, Sheep, fee. — Messrs Buckland & Sons report that at Pukekohe on Monday (January 29) there was a large number of cattle yarded, mostly calves ami dairy cows, with a few pens of yearling to 2-year steeis, and of fat cattle; prices for calves mostly ranged from 25s to 28s, 2-year-old 57s Gd to Gss; dairy cows 90s to l-13s; fat steers 105s to 130s; fat cows, 85s to l]ss each. — About GOO sheep of all classes were yarded, and of those about one-third were withdrawn. Store owes brought from 3s to 5s 9d; fat ewes, 8s to 9s; store lambs, 4s to 4s Gd each; Lincoln rams, from 20s to 30s, and an Oxford Down hogget ram. 03s. —At Itemuera on" Thursday (February 1) dairy cattle were in usnal number, and were better worth; prices for those at calving ranged from £(» to £7 17s Gd. Store cattle were in usjial numbers, and were at late values. Oalves in moderate supplyj and were without alteration in prices. Fat cattle in excess of usual supply (197 yarded), and were required; steers were from 218 the 1001 b, but cows, unless of choice quality, were neglected, and several remained unsold. Sheep were numerous (2350 yarded); store ewes ranged from 3s 3d to 5s 9d; fat ewes, 8s to 11s 3d; fat wethers, O.i to 13s Gd. Lambs, in usual number (358 yarded), sold irregularly, and were lower as sale proceeded. Prices ranged from 7s to 10s each. Pigs, which were numerous, sold freely at fully late values ; porkers ranged from 20s to 34s each.. — Messrs Ilmiter & Nolan report as follows : — Cattle : A steady demand exinted for all classes, but there has been no upward tendency in prices. An average number of dairy and fatstock were yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday, prices for fat stock ranging from J9s to 21s Ihc 1001 b. Some averages of stems wore: £«9s (id, £7 17s 3d, C 7 I2h 7d, C 7 5s 10tl, £7 4s 7d, £G 5.5; cows, £0 ss, C 5 Gs 3d; £4 IGS 3d, £4 lOs.
