EDUCATION RESERVES BOARD.

The Board met on Friday. Present : Messrs Parris (chairman), Bauchope, Corkill, Stock, and Strauchon. Surrender. — The Board decided to consider Mr W. J. Millns' application to surrender his lease at the next meeting of the Board.

Timber, etc., rights. — It was resolved that upon the solicitor reporting all papers in order and costs paid the seal of the Board be affixed to the consent to the instrument with the New Plymouth Sash and Door Company for timber cutting and tramway rights, as stated in Mr Meyenberg's letter of January 29th, but expressly worded so that nothing in such instrument shall be binding on the lands leased or the Commissioners in case the original lease shall be determined. Mortgage. — Upon all papers being in order, the Board will consent to mortgage of the lease of sec 65,Manganui, as applied for by Mr Milne in his letter of January 15th.

Transfer. — On the solicitor reporting all papers, etc., in order, the Board will consent to the transfer of sec 19, Opunake, from W. Costello to C. Sorrensen.

School Sites. — The Board decided, That with part of the money in hand received as compensation or in payment of land taken or sold, certain lands be purchased and transferred to the School Commissioners under sec 13 of "The Education Reserves Act, 1877, Amendment Act 1882," and that the same be set apart by the Commissioners as sites for public schools, the amount to be spent under the resolution not to exceed £50.

Meeting of Waters. — The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr H. King, informing him that the Board is of opinion that under no circumstances shall any stone be removed from, or any tracks cut or made through any part of «ec 158, at The Meeting of the Waters on the south side of ihe Waiwakaiho river.

Accounts were passed and the Board adjourned.
