STRATFORD NEWS.

[FROM OUR RESIDENT AGENT.] Fkiuiuaky 2. — The suppliers of Messrs Robbins and Pierard's Stratford Dairy Factory and other farmers of the immediate district have decided to register a Co-operative Company with a view of next year taking over the factory. I sincerely trust that Stratford farmers have at last made up their minds to sink all petty private interests and to act together harmoniously for the good of the whole, and that the old soubriquet of " Gas Company " will no longer have any appropriateness. The Anglican Sunday-school picnic eventuated yesterday in the Recreation Ground. Fortunately the rain was not due till to-day, and a large number of people availed themselves of the outing. Two members of the Education Board, the chairman, Mr Bauchope, and the Hon. Mr Kelly were inspecting the school residence yesterday, with a view of ascertaining whether it will be better to move the present building and re-erect it with additions in the school paddock on the east side of Orlando-street, or to build a new one altogether. They were accompanied by Messrs Irvine and Allsworth, of our School Committee. In the afternoon Mr Allsworth drove the visitors to Ngaire, where they inspected the school and residence, under the guidance of Mr Thomas, the chairman of the Ngaire committee.

A dance was given in the Hall last night to raise a pound or two for Mr McMahon, who had the misfortune to get his leg broken some little time back.

One of the heaviest gales experienced for years is blowing as I write. No damage is as yet reported here, but a lady ■who has just ridden in from Toko says that limbs of trees were flying about in all directions, the East Road being hardly safe to travel.
