RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Thursday, May 4 — Before Major Tuko, R.M. Disturbing a Church.— Robert Clark was charged by tho police with unlawfully disturbing a congregation assembled for public worship on Sunday night last. Ho pleaded guilty. Constable Twomoy stated that on last Sunday night, while tha Church of England clergyman was holding service, defendant entered the church and made use of such conduct that the clergyman had to come off: tho pnlpit, and, with the assistance of one of the churchwardens, removd tho defendant from the church Some members of the church had spoken to tho constable after the service, and when the constable interviewed Clark he stated he had a reason for what he had done. In answer to the Bench, Clark stated that he was drinking on the Saturday night, an 1 had taken home some liquor with him, which he had on the Sunday, He had no recollection of going to tho church, and felt very sorry for doing sii"h a thing. Fined 20s, and costs 7s; ono week was given him to pay. Gane v. Morgan.— lllegally impounding 7 cows, for which the informant claims I £9 damages Defendant was ordered to return driving foes and pay costs.
